Victoria L. Scott
Victoria L. Scott’s motto for life is actually a question: “How hard can it be?” This can-do attitude inspired her to learn to speak Latin, quilt, cook Indian food, run a half-marathon, and operate a blueprint copy machine. But sometimes the answer to ‘how hard’ is ‘damn hard’, like learning Ancient Greek in a class taught in Ancient Greek; studying karate; and taking Calculus. Those… were not as successful. Luckily, she learned enough from those experiences that she won’t need to repeat them. Steampunk and Contemporary Fantasy are her great loves, but she also writes fantasy fiction set in the Ancient Mediterranean world.
When Victoria isn’t writing, she is teaching Social Studies and Latin to middle schoolers. She also loves to travel the world. She’s journeyed to Tunisia and seen the ruins of the city of Carthage. Next on the list? A cruise down the Nile, of course.
Victoria L. Scott lives in Michigan with her awesome dog, Red the Wonder-Husky. She holds an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University, has studied Shakespeare at the Folger Shakespeare Library, and Roman History at the American Academy in Rome. She owns a full suit of Roman armor that she wears during Latin Naming Ceremonies, complete with gladius(sword) and scutum(shield). She’s particularly good at divining the will of the gods through the flights of birds
